Louisiana is Going the Full 40

Louisiana is joining Association for Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses' (AWHONN) Go the Full 40 initiative in partnership with the March of Dimes and the Louisiana Hospital Association. On this page, you can learn about why women should wait for natural labor to occur instead of scheduling an early induction and find links visitor to additional information and resources on AWHONN's official Go the Full 40 Website.

This page also hosts the pledge being signed by the leadership and an obstetrical physician champion at each participating hospital. If you are the employee of a hospital or other birthing center, or even a medical practitioner who advises women during pregnancy, we urge you to review the pledge and join us in helping ensure more Louisiana mothers go the full 40.

Resources for Hospital Leadership:

Pledge Letter: At the following link, you will find the letter sent by LDH Secretary Kathy Kliebert. It contains information about going the full 40 and the pledge we are urging hospital leadership to take. Again, if you are the employee of a hospital or other birthing center, or even a medical practitioner who advises women during pregnancy, we urge you to review the pledge and join us in helping ensure more Louisiana mothers go the full 40.

Letter to Chief Executive Officer, from LDH Secretary, Kathy Kliebert
