ACT 534 requested The Department of Health and Hospitals (DHH), the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), and the Department of Education (DOE) to report on its review and evaluation of programs available to educate the youth of Louisiana about the importance of preventing teen pregnancy and the spread of HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases.

Monitoring the health status of a population is an essential step in evaluating the effectiveness of various health programs and in developing programmatic policy for the future. Monitoring the status of a population relative to certain health indicators over a number of years is an especially effective tool for health planning. Act 985 of the 1995 Louisiana Regular Legislative Session, enacting R.S. 40:1300.71, requires that the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals annually prepare a report card relative to health and health-related issues.

SR 163 of the 2017 Regular Session, urges the Louisiana Department of Health to provide a monthly report to include data for able-bodied Medicaid recipients with specified data elements in the categories of the Louisiana Medicaid expansion population, state waiver initiatives, and Medicaid expansion utilization.

In response to the reporting requirements set forth in Revised Statue 28:772 Regional Funding of Addictive Disorder Services through Federal Block Grant Money Obtained by the State, Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) submits the attached Annual Report. RS 28:772 directed LDH to report to the Legislature listing the contractors and the amounts such contractors received for the provision of regional addictive disorder services and services provided through grants which were received through application by the department or a regional office of the department.

The Louisiana Children’s Health Insurance Program (LaCHIP) is an optional Medicaid program that provides healthcare coverage to uninsured children up to age 19 and enrollees in the LaCHIP Unborn Option (Phase IV) which provides prenatal care services, from conception to birth, for low income uninsured mothers who are not otherwise eligible for Medicaid.

In response to SB 305 of the 2003 Regular Session, DHH is required to submit certain information regarding the Medicaid Buy-In Program to the legislature, including the status of the buy-in program, a report relative to the estimated value of the state, federal and FICA taxes paid by the participants in the buy-in program, and any recommendations for expanding coverage in the buy-in program.

In accordance with ACT 186 of the 2016 Regular Legislative Session, the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) submits the attached report. ACT 186 requested the Louisiana Obesity Prevention and Management Commission to update the legislature on the commission’s progress toward full implementation of services and programs in the state to increase prevention and management of the disease of obesity in adults and children.

In response to House Resolution 177 of the 2017 Regular Legislative Session, the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) is required to study and report its findings on the desirability and feasibility of increasing the minimum age to purchase tobacco products in Louisiana to twenty-one.
